Barry Manilow postponed his Las Vegas residency again, pushing back shows that were originally scheduled to resume this month. The 81-year-old singer is recovering from lung cancer treatment and says his doctors cleared him to continue training and exercising, but not yet for the grueling demands of a Vegas run.
"All the training and exercising I've put in is paying off," Manilow wrote. His medical team acknowledged the progress but delivered the reality check: he's not ready.
This marks another delay in what's become a lengthy absence from the Strip. Manilow first paused his residency at Paris Las Vegas last year after his diagnosis, and subsequent comeback dates have slipped repeatedly as his body needs more recovery time. The singer has been candid about his health battle, but Vegas shows require a different kind of stamina than most performances. Eight shows a week in a theater designed for his specific production demands a level of physical endurance that won't come back on a timeline.
The postponement is honest about what recovery actually looks like at his age and health status. Rather than risk a collapse onstage or canceling mid-run, Manilow and his team are taking the measured approach. No new dates have been announced yet. For now, the focus remains on getting stronger in private before returning to the stage in public.
