Red Sage Studios, the YA-focused production company founded by James Farrell following his departure from Amazon MGM Studios International, has greenlit a film adaptation of Jessica Cunsolo's bestselling novel "She's With Me." Domingo González, who directed the Netflix hit "Culpa Mía," will helm the project in partnership with Sun Distribution.
"She's With Me" launches Cunsolo's five-book series and taps into the lucrative young adult market that has sustained franchises like "The Kissing Booth" and "To All the Boys I've Loved Before." González's selection signals Red Sage's ambitions to replicate that streaming success. His work on "Culpa Mía," which resonated with international audiences on Netflix, establishes his credibility in translating YA romance novels for screen.
The studio also announced a significant personnel move. Nick Lafferty, a veteran talent agent from CAA, joins Red Sage as chief operating officer. This hire suggests the company plans expansion beyond its current slate and seeks institutional expertise in deal-making and production infrastructure.
Pokeepsie Films serves as production company on the project, broadening the collaborative network assembling the adaptation. The involvement of Sun Distribution, part of Telefilms Group, indicates international distribution infrastructure already in place.
Cunsolo's novel sits at the intersection of two proven streaming phenomenons. The author's social media following rivals published YA heavyweights, and her fanbase, cultivated through Wattpad and TikTok, represents the exact demographic streaming platforms target. The book's premise of a high school romance with complications appeals to the audience that elevated "Culpa Mía" to prominence.
Red Sage's emergence as a production entity matters because the YA landscape has fragmented across platforms. Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube all compete for young adult content. Farrell's institutional knowledge from Amazon MGM Studios could position Red Sage to navigate this crowded space effectively. González's track record suggests the studio found a director capable of balancing teen-focused storyt
