New York City-based musician Maiya Blaney released an EP titled Mary Bed last Friday. The project marks a shift toward softer textures compared to her second album A Room With A Door That Closes, which featured haunted noise, hardcore dance music, and subdued folk.
Mary Bed retains sampling and noise collage but strips back the density. Blaney's voice sits over acoustic guitars and room fuzz. The production captures intimate details: birds chirping and the sound of her fingers moving across guitar strings. The closing track "haven't i" evokes Nick Drake's style.
